Commuter Programs

Commuter Programs, located in the Office of Student Development, seeks to aid our commuter students in learning about the variety of resources on and off campus. The program provides resources and programming to help students become active participants in campus life and contributing members of their community.

Be an active and informed member of the MassArt community. Participating in college activities is a great way to meet people and get involved at MassArt. Keep informed of daily events and activities by accessing the events calendar. Check your MassArt email account for valuable information including campus wide announcements. It is essential for commuter students to have an active College email account. Remember, College officials who may need to contact you will not have access to personal email addresses. Don't take a chance on missing out; check your MassArt Gmail account every day!

Get to know your professors, staff members in Student Development, your work study supervisor, etc. They are important campus connections. Make sure to tell a faculty or staff member about obstacles associated with your commuting lifestyle that could impact classroom performance.

All enrolled and newly accepted commuter students (graduate, undergraduate, part-time, PCE, and Certificate) are eligible to apply for parking using the parking application form. Parking permits will be valid from Wednesday, January 19, 2022 through Wednesday, May 18th, 2022.

This semester, we will have a limited number of spaces between the Greek Orthodox Church Lot and the Wentworth Parker Street Lot. The parking spaces are assigned per day of the week. This means, students will have to apply for specific days of the week for the semester.

The cost of parking is $50 per weekday assigned to you. For example, if you are approved for Mondays and Wednesdays, the total cost for the semester would be $100.

Parking assignments will be determined using a point system which was developed in response to feedback gathered from a survey of students who requested criteria such as distance traveled and seniority be prioritized.

The point system uses class standing, distance traveled, and access to public transportation in addition to special circumstances as approved by the parking office. To maximize the use of the limited parking spaces, the total number of points will be used in combination with the applicant’s Spring 2022 class schedule to determine parking assignments. A copy of your Spring 2022 class schedule must also be included with your completed application.

If your schedule is not yet complete, please apply for all the days you believe you will have class and include a note on your parking application. The application is available here:

The Spring 2022 Parking Application Deadline is Monday, December 13, 2021 at 5:00pm

For those needing EVENING Parking ONLY, a separate application is available here:

Spring 2022 Evening & Weekend Student Parking Application

We have two lots available for evening students to choose from: the Wentworth Parker Lot and the Ward Street Lot. Students would have access to these lots after 5pm.

The price of the Wentworth Parker Lot is $30 per weeknight assigned to you. For example, if you are approved for Mondays and Wednesdays, the total cost for the semester would be $60.

The price of the Ward Lot is $50 per weeknight assigned to you. For example, if you are approved for Mondays and Wednesdays, the total cost for the semester would be $100.

Parking Notification

Students who receive a space will be notified via their MassArt email by 5pm on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Parking privileges may not be transferred to another person. Information on how and when to pick up parking permits will be made available via email on December 21, 2021.

***In addition to submitting a completed parking application to the Management Office, any student requesting an accommodation due to medical/physical need must contact Elizabeth Smith-Freedman at or (617) 879-7278.

Registering Your Vehicle

All vehicles must be registered with MassArt at the Parking Office (Artists’ Residence rm. 120). A permit will be issued for display on the vehicles rear view mirror authorizing parking in the lot. Your MassArt ID will be activated for the days in which you are authorized.
