Undergraduate Financial Aid
Types of Aid for Undergraduate Students
MassArt participates in a wide variety of federal and state financial aid programs. Your financial aid package may consist of many different types of awards. Please click on the links below for additional information about each type of aid:
Parent PLUS Loan
(for parents of dependent undergraduates)
The types of aid you receive will depend on whether it is need-based (determined by your demonstrated financial need) or non-need-based (determined by merit or other factors).
Scholarships, grants, and tuition waivers are considered gift aid and do not need to be repaid. Student loans and Parent PLUS loans need to be repaid, according to the terms of the lender, as described in the online entrance counseling session (required for Federal Stafford Loan borrowers) and in each loan program's Master Promissory Note.
If the aid/loans a student has been offered are not enough to assist the student in meeting the cost of his/her education, then applying for an alternative student loan may help to fill the additional need.

International Students
Please note that only U.S. Citizens and Legal Permanent Residents are eligible to file the FAFSA. However, international students may apply for a private student loan with a creditworthy U.S. Citizen or a non-citizen permanent resident as a co-signer.
