Borrow and Renew

Log on to your account to renew books and see what you have checked out. If you need help logging on, contact the Circulation Desk at (617) 879 7150.

The Morton R. Godine Library is open to the public and anyone may come and use our materials in the library.

Those wishing to borrow materials must have a current ID card from MassArt or any FLO, ProArts, or Massachusetts state college or university library. Some library materials only circulate to students, staff, and faculty of MassArt--please see below for more detailed information. If a patron wishes to use reserve materials and does not have an appropriate borrowing card, he/she may use the MassArt Guest Card available at the Circulation Desk and a picture I.D. (i.e. driver's license, state I.D.) while using the materials.

Fines & Fees

If you have overdue library material and/or you owe more than $5 in library fines, your borrowing privileges at the library will be suspended. Additionally if you do not pay your fines and return your overdue library books, the library may put a hold on your MassArt account so that you will be blocked from registering for classes and receiving your grades. If you are unable to pay your fines or if you have lost a book, please talk to a librarian.

In addition to accruing fines for not returning material when it is due, you can be charged for lost or damaged materials.

**These are the maximum amounts you may have to pay for a damaged item. Patrons are not charged for damage caused by regular use. In some cases, a librarian may determine that the damage is not extensive enough to warrant repair, in which case you may not have to pay a fee. Every fee will be assessed on an item by item basis.

***Periodicals no longer circulate, but some borrowers may still have charges on their accounts for long overdue periodicals from the time when the library did circulate its periodical collection

Film/Video Vault

Films located in the Film/Video vault are rare and delicate and require special care for viewing. If you would like to schedule a viewing for one of these titles, please contact Rachel Resnik in the Library at rresnik@massart.edu. She will help you arrange for a projectionist. Please allow 2 weeks for scheduling. All films located in the Film/Video Vault are shown in one of the MassArt projection rooms. They do not circulate like regular library collections.
