Cement, yarn
"This piece was a part of my senior thesis, where I focused on creating a body of work using the materials my father and brother work with daily as electrical contractors. I grew up around these materials, and seeing the endless possibilities available with simple wires, nails, screws, wood and cement. Their work truck was like a candy store to me, and seeing all the materials was like heaven. This body of work reflected my ongoing fascination with materiality and the connections I draw between it and my family. In this piece, I explored what it would look like to combine my hands work, the crocheted pieces, with their hand's work, represented by the cement."
