MassArt Provost Search

Dear MassArt Community,

I am very pleased to share the news that Dr. Brenda Molife will be joining MassArt as our new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Throughout her engagement with the Provost Search Committee and the MassArt community, Brenda’s depth of administrative and academic leadership in multiple settings, her expertise as an art historian, and her commitment to MassArt’s mission all led us to her as an extraordinary choice to be our new Provost.

My deep appreciation goes to James Mason, whose leadership and service to MassArt throughout this academic year has been remarkable. I am delighted to say that James will continue in an important leadership role in Academic Affairs, as he is promoted to Associate Provost and Dean of Faculty, and he will be working closely with Provost Molife.

My sincere thanks to the Provost Search Committee led by Co-Chairs Maureen Keefe and Marc Holland, and all faculty, students and staff who participated in the campus visits and feedback surveys that led to our selection of Brenda Molife as MassArt Provost. I would also like to thank Peggy Maki, Executive Assistant in Finance and Administration, for supporting the work of the search committee.

We anticipate that Brenda will take up her new position in mid-July, and look forward to providing a warm welcome to her at that time.

Thank you all again for your engagement with and support of this important choice of our new chief academic officer.

My best,

Mary K. Grant, PhD
