Jack Pierson '84

Jack Pierce, "The lawn could stand another mowing (funny I don't even care)," 1990. C-print. Courtesy of the artist.

Jack Pierson’s work explores the emotional undercurrents of everyday life, through sculpture, installations, drawings, artist books, photography, and video. Diverse in both media and content, he creates evocative word-sculptures featuring vintage lettering and found signs as well as photographic series of his art, theater, and movie star friends. At times nostalgic, even melancholic, Pierson’s wide-ranging and poignant work often inspires a strong sense of memory, absence, and yearning.
