Institutional Memberships
Through the International Education Center, MassArt holds memberships in several internationally focused organizations. These are:
- Cumulus: International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design, and Media:
Cumulus is the only global association to serve art and design education and research. It is a forum for partnership, transfer of knowledge, and best practices.
- NAFSA: Association of International Educators:
NAFSA is the largest association of professionals committed exclusively to advancing international higher education. NAFSA aspires to an environment in which every student and scholar seeking the benefits of international education finds a path, and every institution of higher education integrates international perspectives into its teaching, research, and service missions.
- Institute for International Education (IIE):
IIE is among the world's largest and most experienced international education and training organizations. It's mission is to advance international education and access to education worldwide, which it accomplishes by: managing scholarships, training, exchange and leadership programs; conducting research and facilitating policy dialogue on global higher education; and protecting scholarship around the world.
- Massachusetts Council for International Education (MaCIE):
The Massachusetts Council for International Education (MaCIE), founded in 1991, is an association to link Massachusetts public institutions of higher education in a common commitment to promote international education among our diverse constituencies. MaCIE is made up of representatives from the Commonwealth's 29 public higher education institutions. MaCIE's mission is to advance international education through collaboration in programming, information sharing and professional development opportunities for its members, member campuses, students, and faculty.
- Boston Area Study Abroad Association (BASAA)
The Boston Area Study Abroad Association (BASAA) provides a platform for international educators in the Boston and surrounding areas to engage in professional development, networking, and collaboration.
- Colleges of the Fenway (COF):
The IEC represents MassArt on various committees through the COF Global Education Opportunities (GEO) Center. The GEO Center aims to provide shared resources to faculty, staff, and students from across the six COF institutions who are committed to study abroad, cross registration, and globalization.
- Study Abroad Council (SAC):
Shares best practices and collaborates on marketing, orientations, fairs, and other projects related to students studying, working, or volunteering abroad.
- International Student Admissions and Advisors Committee (ISAAC):
Provides support to international students through tax and career workshops; shares best practices for international student support, retention, and community building.
- GEO Center Advisory Board:
Provides guidance for the GEO Center strategic planning process, major projects, and special events.
