MassArt Announces Illuminate: 2017 MassArt Fashion Show and Fashion Show Party

Illuminate Fashion Show

Design: Alexandra Coppola, Image: Keitaro Yoshioka

Boston, MA (April 13, 2017) - Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) will present the work of the next generation of fashion designers at its year-end event on Saturday, May 20 at 8:00pm in the Design and Media Center Atrium on MassArt’s campus. This year’s showcase, titled ILLUMINATE, will feature a sample of collections from the senior class with select designs by sophomores and juniors inspired by textile research, sustainable practices and global perspectives. The show will not be presented on a catwalk as in recent years; the models will walk the floor of the Atrium among the audience in the intimate style of a “fashion parade” from the early 1900s.

The show will be set beneath Rainfield, the large scale site-specific installation of 10,000 glass rain drops created by former visiting faculty member sculptor Daniel Clayman and students in his fall 2016 class. Additional work by MassArt fashion design students will be displayed in the Design and Media Center lobby and adjacent spaces. Individual tickets for general seating are $40 per person and are available online. No tickets will be sold at the door. General seating begins at 7:00pm and the Fashion Show begins at 8:00pm.
