MassArt is excited to celebrate the Class of 2023 on Thursday, May 18 with a Commencement ceremony at the Leader Bank Pavilion, an open-air, tented amphitheater on the South Boston Waterfront. The following information is intended to help you and your family plan ahead for this event.
Pavilion doors open at 12:00 pm. No tickets are required and there is no limit to the number of guests you may bring. There are approximately 5,000 seats in the amphitheater, 500 of which are uncovered; we encourage you to plan accordingly.
All bags are subject to search by Pavilion security staff upon entrance to the ceremony. We encourage you to bring as little as possible to minimize waiting time.
MassArt encourages guests to use Public Transportation whenever possible. Take the subway, commuter rail or bus to South Station and connect to Silver Line Waterfront service. The Pavilion is located one block away from the Silver Line bus stop.
For guests who are driving to the ceremony, paid parking is available at several garage and surface lots along Seaport Boulevard and Northern Avenue.
There will be a live drop-off area at the Pavilion entrance for guests with physical disabilities and mobility impairments.
Guest lodging will be available at a discounted rate at MassArt’s TreeHouse Residence Hall.
For those friends and family members that cannot attend, our ceremony will be streamed live at massart.edu/commencement on the day of our celebration.
The College expects to hold its 2023 Commencement ceremony with no COVID-19-related restrictions in place. As with all aspects of the pandemic, we will continue to monitor COVID-19 and be responsive to changes in conditions as warranted. Being responsive means that our mitigation strategies and safety protocols could be modified if the data or conditions change at the College, local, or state level, or if imposed by our ceremony venue. This includes but is not limited to masking, capacity restrictions, limitations on number of student guests, physical distancing, and vaccination and/or testing requirements. We encourage candidates, family members, and guests to plan accordingly. We greatly appreciate your understanding in this matter.
