Programs and Initiatives

  • Tyrone Maurice Adderley Lecture Series - This lecture series, established in 1995, was named in memory of Tyrone Maurice Adderley, a talented and popular painting student. The series brings artist, writers, scholars, and social justice activists from underrepresented groups to share their work and wisdom with MassArt and the community.
  • Visiting Artists and Lectures - Visiting artists of diverse backgrounds frequently join the MassArt community for a few days, weeks, or months. Through lectures, slide talks, gallery walkthroughs, symposia, and residencies, these artists share their perspectives on practicing their chosen craft.
  • Anti-Racism Learning Community Project - an initiative to develop awareness of race and racism in our society in order to transform how we teach, learn, and work with our students and each other

For Staff

The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion provides members of the MassArt community with a variety of personal and professional development opportunities throughout the year. Offerings include workshops, webinars, intergroup dialogues, panel discussions, and more. If you would like to learn more about these offerings or if you would like to speak with us about customizing an opportunity to meet your needs, then please contact us and we will assist you.

Councils and Committees

In addition to the resources and opportunities for students, staff, and faculty, MassArt is actively working toward creating a more inclusive environment through the following councils, committees, and working groups:

  • Diversity Council
  • Mirror Committee
  • Recruitment, Hiring, and Retention Practices Work Group
  • Search Advisors Committee
  • Americans with Disabilities Act Advisory Committee

Ongoing Education

The Office of EDI has developed aids for those who are looking to further their understanding and increase their self awareness around matters of equity, diversity and inclusion. Through these resources, we hope that the MassArt community will be able to engage each other in more respectful and meaningful interactions. We support all members of the MassArt community through their personal development by encouraging self reflection and advocacy for oneself and others.

These lists will be updated on an ongoing basis. Please let us know if you have additional recommendations.
